Sambal Takeout Packaging

Sambal is a Peranakan takeout restaurant based in NYC. The menu is built around its sambals, flavourful hot sauces that range from sweet-and-sour to tangy. Customers pick a main dish and a sambal to complement it.

To circumvent the obscurity of Peranakan culture to westerners, I chose to hint at its Asian-ness by borrowing from the archetypal Chinese takeout box.

Each box is stamped with the logo once filled with food. You symbolically break the seal to get to your meal.
